Barcelona target furious with Catalan giants over inability to complete £114m+ summer swoop

Liverpool playmaker and Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho is reportedly upset with the Catalan giants over their inability to sign him this past summer.

Barca were heavily linked with signing the Brazilian international, with The Independent reporting that their final offer reached £114m after previously seeing two other bids rejected.

That wasn’t enough to convince Liverpool to sell though, and in turn Don Balon, as re-reported by The Mirror, note that Coutinho expected Barcelona to do more to sign him and get the deal over the line.

In addition, it’s claimed that he’s annoyed by the attitude of the Barca hierarchy as they ultimately failed to live up to their promises of taking him to the Nou Camp where he would be playing for the club right now.

Having convinced him that they would eventually reach a deal after visiting their offices, as per the report, Coutinho feels let down by the La Liga outfit and it now raises question marks over their ability to sign him in the future.

Don Balón suggest that if Barcelona were to return for Coutinho in January, they may well get a different answer from the 25-year-old now as he looks ahead to reintegrating at Liverpool in the coming months and proving his professionalism and commitment to continue to play an integral role for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

While Ernesto Valverde saw Ousmane Dembele arrive in a big-money deal this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not Barcelona still even have the funds and space to sign Coutinho moving forward. Either way, it sounds as though the situation got a little more complicated in recent weeks and it might not be such a smooth deal between Barca and the player any longer.
