Jose Mourinho sends Man Utd scouts to watch key defensive solution, under-pressure ace faces axe

Man Utd reportedly sent scouts to watch Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney as they continue to keep tabs on the Scottish international.

Jose Mourinho enjoyed a decent summer transfer window, bringing in crucial reinforcements to strengthen the core of his squad with Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku.

However, the Portuguese tactician is seemingly far from done, as The Sun report that he sent scouts to watch Tierney in action in the 4-0 win over Dundee to suggest that plans are already in place for January and next summer.

The 20-year-old has produced a string of impressive performances over the last season or so, and in turn it’s no surprise that he’s attracting interest from some of the top clubs in England.

Further, it’s added in the report that given Luke Shaw’s on-going issues at Old Trafford, this move could be with a view of replacing the under-pressure left-back, who was slated by former Man Utd ace Phil Neville for his performance in midweek.

The 22-year-old failed to impress against Burton in the League Cup, with Neville questioning his desire, as per the report. In turn, if Man Utd are monitoring Tierney, then his arrival would surely push Shaw closer to the exit door.

It remains to be seen if United act on their interest though, with Tierney’s valuation only likely to rise further given that he continues to establish himself as a key player for both club and country with plenty of room for development still left in his overall game.
