Liverpool’s £23m star looks set to depart for Italian giants, huge blow for the Reds

Italian champions Juventus are poised to make a move for Liverpool’s German midfielder Emre Can, who appears to be running down his contract at Anfield.

The German and Liverpool star’s future has been uncertain for quite some time now with the midfielder having just nine months remaining on his contract. The 23-year-old could walk away from the Red’s on a free transfer next summer if no extension is signed.

The Mirror have cited a report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato who have noted that Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is a huge admirer of the talented defensive midfielder and that the Italian champions will wait until next summer to seal a deal for Can when his contract expires.

Can has made 96 appearances in the Premier League since moving to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, scoring 7 goals.

If a move to Italy was to materialize it could see the 23-year-old play alongside his fellow countryman Sami Khedira in the heart of the Juventus midfield which would surely be one of the most intimidating central midfields in world football.

The Express had already noted Juventus’ interest in the star this summer with them reporting that a £23m move was being prepared for Can. However, if the Italian champions now wait for the midfielder to run down his contract they would likely anger Liverpool fans even more by sealing him on a free deal next summer.
