Not the news United fans wanted to hear…

Jose Mourinho faces an uncertain future at Manchester United following an interview over the weekend in which he appeared to flirt with the prospect of managing Paris Saint-Germain.

The Portuguese tactician is yet to be offered a new contract at Old Trafford and is not entirely happy with the operation being run by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, according to the Daily Record.

Mourinho only took over as United manager last season, but led the Red Devils to three trophies in his first year in charge, with signings made this summer now strengthening the side to look like genuine Premier League title contenders once again.

However, Mourinho had seemingly hoped his instant success at the club could earn him an extension to his contract, though the Daily Record claim no discussions have taken place as of yet.

The report describes Mourinho as feeling ‘let down’ by Woodward and the way he runs the club, which are not in keeping with the 54-year-old’s incredibly high standards.

Jose Mourinho eyeing Paris job?

This follows the former Chelsea boss telling Telefoot (via Get Football News France): ‘What I can say is that I am still a manager with questions, with ambitions, with a desire to do new things and I do not think… I am sure that I will not finish my career here.

‘The other day, my son who lives in London decided to go to Paris and not Manchester to watch a match. Why Paris? Because at the moment, PSG have something special. There is a magic, youthfulness and quality. It is fantastic.’

Mourinho has become known throughout his career for only making a series of short stays with each club he’s managed, and it increasingly looks like that could be the case at United as well.

This will come as a blow to the club’s fans, who are craving a Sir Alex Ferguson-style figure to come in for the long run and get the team back to where they once were in the 90s and 00s.
