Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target pushing to join Premier League rivals instead

Where will he end up?

Gareth Bale would be more likely to return to Tottenham Hotspur than Manchester United if he were to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims Bale is concerned about changing position in order to avoid injuries, but that he isn’t getting chances in his preferred right-wing spot in Zinedine Zidane’s side.

This could see him seek a move back to the Premier League, but while Don Balon claim Manchester United and Chelsea have been in for him, they add that his preferred move would be to return to his former club Spurs.

Bale has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in particular for what feels like an eternity, with the Mirror reporting just this summer that the Red Devils were preparing a £92million bid for the Wales international.

Bale made 162 Premier League appearances while at White Hart Lane and despite struggling at first after his move from Southampton in 2007, he finished his stint in the English league with 42 goals and 20 assists.

How could Bale fit into at Tottenham?

An attacking three of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Gareth Bale himself sat just behind Harry Kane would be likely to strike fear into any defence in world football. Similarly if Spurs opted to play with a 3-5-2 formation Bale’s pace could be a superb asset alongside Harry Kane’s instinctive hold-up play.

Of-course this is all very hypothetical but we can’t blame Spurs fans if they go to bed tonight dreaming of seeing Bale back in a lily-white strip next summer.
