Man Utd injury news: Mourinho confirms fitness boost, but offers sharp response on key absence

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has been offering injury updates on a number of key players, and it’s a mixed bag for the Red Devils.

On a positive note, Marcus Rashford has been passed fit to face Huddersfield this weekend after suffering a knock and limping off in the 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League in midweek.

As noted below by ESPN’s Rob Dawson, the England international will be fit to play, although he’s the only notable player to overcome his injury problems and return to the squad for the trip to take on David Wagner’s men.

However, Mourinho didn’t elaborate too much on Paul Pogba’s return to action, with the Frenchman sidelined since last month after sustaining a hamstring injury in the win over Basel in the Champions League.

As seen in the tweet from Simon Peach below, the Man Utd boss didn’t have any fresh information on his midfield star, leaving the media and supporters guessing on when they could see Pogba make his comeback after making such a positive start to the campaign with two goals and two assists in four Premier League matches.

While Man Utd are the heavy favourites to win this weekend, the fixtures do pile up over the next fortnight and the tests certainly get tougher.

They take on Tottenham on October 28, which is followed by clashes with Benfica and Chelsea as we head into November, and so having the likes of Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back available would be a major boost for them as they continue to compete on various fronts.

United are now two points adrift of rivals Man City at the top of the Premier League, and they can’t afford any slip-ups as Pep Guardiola’s side look in ominous early form.
