Liverpool transfer news: January loan exit touted, contract rebel raises huge concern

After suffering from an injury nightmare in his two years at Liverpool, it’s no real surprise that reports claim Danny Ings could be set for a loan exit.

The 25-year-old joined the Reds in 2015, but has been limited to just 12 appearances in all competitions as he’s suffered one bad injury after another to keep him sidelined for long periods of time.

In turn, a loan exit would be a sensible idea to allow him to regain his full fitness, sharpness and form, and The Mirror claim that’s likely to be the scenario that the former Burnley forward faces as he could struggle to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season given the level of competition for places.

Newcastle United, Southampton, Watford and Crystal Palace are all named as interested parties and so Ings won’t be short of offers it seems. He’ll have to chose carefully though as the second half of the campaign will be about playing regularly and proving his worth to Liverpool and Klopp so that they know he can deliver in the future on a regular basis.

While that seems to be a short-term solution for Ings, it may not be so straight-forward for midfielder Emre Can, who has spoken glowingly about reported interest from Juventus.

The German international is out of contract at the end of the season, and as the months go by with no real developments over a renewal, he could be leaving on a free transfer next summer.

Comments like these from the 23-year-old probably won’t go down very well as he was asked about interest from Juventus.

“It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club, but currently I am only focused on the season with Liverpool,” he told Kicker, as reported by The Independent. “My agent takes care of the rest.

“You never know what will happen. And I don’t know what Jurgen Klopp plans.”

Can has taken great strides under Klopp over the last 12-18 months or so as he has established himself as a regular in the Reds line-up and at international level, and so it will be a huge disappointment for Liverpool to potentially lose him.

He’s proven to be a commanding presence in the team, and at just 23 years of age, he has so much more improvement in his game but it could be Juve who benefit from that and not Liverpool.
