Manchester United and Arsenal open talks over transfer of La Liga forward with tempting buy-out clause

United and Arsenal have both been in touch about him.

Manchester United and Arsenal could be about to do battle over an up-and-coming Barcelona star after he burst onto the scene in the Copa del Rey this week.

Both Premier League clubs are joined by Bayern Munich in approaching the agent of 22-year-old winger Jose Arnaiz, who scored on his debut for Barca against Murcia in a 3-0 win.

The youngster looks a big talent and was reportedly targeted by Juventus and Napoli before moving to the Nou Camp, while he now has offers from England, according to Mundo Deportivo.

United and Arsenal are named as the two Premier League clubs keen on Arnaiz, who has clearly made a big impression in just a short space of time.

Mundo Deportivo also state that Arnaiz has a release clause of just £17million at the moment, making him a potential bargain if clubs feel sufficiently confident in following up their interest with a bid any time soon.

Arsenal in particular have a habit of raiding Barcelona for their top young players, having snapped up the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin at a young age from the Catalans’ academy.

Both went on to be big successes at the Emirates Stadium, though Arsenal have also had one or two duds from Barca, such as Fran Merida and Jon Toral.

It is likely too soon to know how good Arnaiz can be, and he’ll face plenty of competition to even get into Ernesto Valverde’s side on a regular basis this season.

The Spanish wide-man is up against Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Gerard Deulofeu for a place in Barcelona’s front three, and may well consider his options if he can be offered more regular playing time elsewhere in the near future.
