Influential Man United ace deals defining blow in club’s reported pursuit of 70-goal Real Madrid star

Manchester United fans, your hopes of seeing this Real Madrid playing for your club may have just been quashed.

It’s being said that United boss Jose Mourinho has told Madrid president Florentino Perez that his side will not be pursuing the Wales international.

This was reported by Diario Gol, who also say that one of the reasons behind Mourinho’s disinterest in the winger is due to his injury record.

The Red Devils had been linked with a move for the Welshman according to the Mirror, however if Diario Gol’s words are anything to go by, it looks as if this transfer is a no go.

Since joining Los Blancos from Premier League side Spurs in 2013, Bale has been fairly hit and miss.

In 159 appearances he’s made for the Spanish champions, Bale has amassed a total of 70 goals and 55 assists, an impressive record.

The Welshman has also won a plethora of silverware during his time at the Bernabeu so far, with his side winning three Champions Leagues, one La Liga title, three UEFA Super Cups, one Copa Del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup since his arrival four years ago.

However, the player’s poor injury record is one of the reason’s why Bale’s Madrid career hasn’t fully gone to plan thus far.

Since his arrival, the former Spurs winger has missed a total of 54 games in all competitions for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

The players patchy form is another one of the reason’s why his time in Spain has been a bit topsy-turvy.

On more than a few occasions, Bale has put in somewhat sub-par performances for his side, which has even lead to some fans booing the player.

Should this story be true, it’ll be interesting to see how Bale’s career goes from here on out.
