Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will be out of contract at the end of the season, and so a decision will be needed on his long-term future.

After years of disappointment through countless injury setbacks, the 25-year-old is now set to reach a critical point in his career with regards to whether or not he stays with the Gunners.

He seems to be doing his part thus far, as he’s made seven appearances so far this season with Arsene Wenger giving him an important role in their Europa League campaign and the England international has certainly impressed for the most part.

However, until pen is put to paper on a new deal, the uncertainty over his future will remain, with The Sun reporting that Real Betis are keen to have another go at prising him away to Spain when his £90,000-a-week contract in north London comes to an end.

It’s added in the report that Wenger has essentially suggested that the situation will be cleared up in December, as he wants to have the matter concluded before the January transfer window opens for business.

Given his connection to Arsenal having come through the club’s youth ranks, it’s more than likely that Wilshere will want to extend his stay if possible. However, he must also consider his own career and how it will develop at the club, and if a rival offer can promise a more prominent role, he will surely have to give it some thought.

It’s isn’t too often that we see British players try their luck abroad, and given the characteristics of his game and his strengths in terms of his technical quality, vision and all-round energy, Wilshere would arguably be a real hit in Spain.

As a result, it remains to be seen what he opts to do if Arsenal do offer him a new deal, but the potential idea of moving abroad next summer could be on the list of options.
