Liverpool chances of cashing in £100m+ increase, third Euro giant enters transfer battle

Liverpool refused to budge on playmaker Philippe Coutinho this past summer, but it remains to be seen whether or not their stance remains unchanged.

The 25-year-old saw a £105m bid rejected by the Reds in August, as per The Daily Mail, and to his credit after a tumultuous summer during which he also handed in a transfer request, he has reintegrated back into the squad and has been a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season.

Coutinho has scored four goals and provided three assists in nine appearances, and so it’s no surprise that Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of him as he continues to produce reminders of his importance to them.

However, the Daily Mail report, via Mundo Deportivo, that Barcelona have already expressed their intention to try again for the Brazilian international in January, and they won’t be the only ones attempting to prise him away from Anfield as it’s added that Real Madrid also want Coutinho along with Paris Saint-Germain.

In an ideal world, Klopp will surely want to keep hold of Coutinho and continue to see him be a fundamental part of his plans in the years ahead to end Liverpool’s wait for major trophies.

Unfortunately for him and the Merseyside giants, the speculation over his future seemingly refuses to go away, but this latest development could surely work to their advantage if there is indeed a three-way scrap for their star man’s signature.

As noted above, Barcelona were willing to go up to £105m in the summer, and if they really are keen to secure Coutinho’s services, then they’ll want to wrap up a deal quickly. However, this could now be the start of a bidding war with Real entering the fray, and if Liverpool can’t convince the Brazilian ace to stay, then they could be looking at a significant boost for their transfer kitty.
