Barca could pounce for this Old Trafford talent.

Manchester United are reportedly growing fearful that Barcelona could lure away one of their top youngsters in a surprise transfer.

According to the Sun, the Catalan giants are admirers of highly-rated 17-year-old Angel Gomes, who recently impressed for England in their win at the Under-17 World Cup.

Still, with first-team football proving hard to come by at Old Trafford, sources close to the club are now reportedly concerned that he could be persuaded to take up an offer to move to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have a proud record of giving youth a chance in their first-team, while United have also had some success with that approach in the past.

Under current manager Jose Mourinho, however, Gomes may not get much of a look-in if the Portuguese’s history with trusting academy players is anything to go by.

Despite making Marcus Rashford a key member of his first-team at United, Mourinho has long been criticised for overlooking homegrown players during his time in charge of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Gomes may find Barcelona would provide him with a better platform to progress at this crucial stage of his career.

The young attacker looks ideally suited to Barca’s style of play and could prove a great find by the club if he ends up fulfilling his enormous potential.
