Watch: The Antonio Conte-Jose Mourinho handshake we didn’t see on Sunday as rivals greet each other

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and Man Utd rival Jose Mourinho caused quite the storm on Sunday as they didn’t shake hands after a 1-0 win for the hosts at Stamford Bridge.

While Mourinho was seen waiting by the entrance of the tunnel for his counterpart, he shook hands with the Chelsea coaching staff before making his way back to the dressing room as Conte opted to celebrate with the fans firstly before going on to the pitch to greet his players.

As reported by The Independent, the Italian tactician didn’t think it was important while Mourinho downplayed the situation too, and so ultimately the pair were seemingly more than happy to go on without making a big fuss of the supposed ‘snub’.

However, it turns out that the pair did indeed shake hands prior to the game, albeit a very brisk and unemotional embrace which gives us an insight into their relationship, or lack of, as seen in the video below at the 0:22 mark from Chelsea’s tunnel access cam on their YouTube channel.

As noted by The Mirror, these two have history as they clashed on two separate occasions last season, and so there is certainly a building rivalry between the pair which has threatened to go over the line.

In turn, perhaps the most sensible thing for them after the full-time whistle this past weekend was to avoid one another, with Conte celebrating a crucial win for his side.

In contrast, Mourinho will be keen to put Sunday’s result behind him as quickly as possible as he now has to mastermind a way of wiping out an eight-point deficit that now exists between Man Utd and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
