Mauricio Pochettino puts stop to Tottenham rift talk after snub ignited exit rumour

After he was left out of the Tottenham squad to face Arsenal at the weekend, speculation was rife about defender Danny Rose’s future at the club.

With several media outlets confirming that the 27-year-old wasn’t injured, it naturally led to suggestions that he had been snubbed by Mauricio Pochettino with transfer rumours coming into play.

As per The Sun, it’s even claimed Rose was fuming with the snub as he is adamant that he’s fit enough to play, thus leading to more talk of interest from Man Utd as per the report, but clearly his Tottenham boss thinks otherwise as he continued training over the weekend instead of featuring in the north London derby.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night though, Pochettino was happy to put an end to all the talk, as he hinted at the possibility that Rose will return to the line-up in midweek as he continues to make progress in training.

“He’s doing well. Today he’s going to train with the group and tomorrow we will decide if he will play,” he told the media, as reported by The Daily Mail.

In turn, while some may argue that he’s ultimately just putting a professional and positive spin on a  potential underlying problem with one of his players, it sounds as though Pochettino is very clear on the situation.

The key indication to offer more clarity to the matter though is whether or not Rose features this week and gets back into the Tottenham team on a regular basis, putting his fitness troubles behind him having been ruled out for a lengthy period of time.

If he doesn’t, then perhaps that will be more than enough evidence to suggest that it isn’t just a fitness concern keeping him out of the team.
