Sky Sports pundit makes Chelsea gaffe, predicts key but impossible Conte decision

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has offered his predictions for this week’s Champions League games, but we’re afraid to say that he’s got one bit wrong on Chelsea.

The reigning Premier League champions head to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag on Wednesday evening, knowing that they can’t afford to slip-up with qualification from Group C far from secured.

With Atletico Madrid still within reach and Roma leading the way, Antonio Conte will be desperate for a positive result to make it three consecutive wins in all competitions following that defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last month.

As part of his prediction piece for Sky Sports, Nicholas gave us all a bit of insight in terms of team selection with various media outlets running with his call on the possibility of Conte rotating and resting Alvaro Morata with youngster Charly Musonda getting a run out.

That makes plenty of sense on the face of it, but considering that Conte ruled Musonda out of the game on Tuesday, as per the Metro, it starts to make less sense when you do some digging.

“Batshauyi and Moses are not available for tomorrrow’s game, also Musonda and Kenedy,” Conte told the media.

In better news, Nicholas has gone for a 2-0 Chelsea win with Willian to score which will undoubtedly keep the Blues faithful happy, but whether it’s a lack of research on his part or unfortunate publishing timing, we’re not sure. Given the post went out on Wednesday morning, they could have done with a quick edit…
