Good news for Arsenal, Man Utd could be missing key absentee for clash

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho could be without a key player as he prepares for the trip to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

The Gunners will be looking to make it 13 consecutive home wins this weekend, and so Mourinho will have his hands full as it is against a side in form and desperate to prove a point against a direct rival.

However, as reported by The Mirror, Nemanja Matic is a major doubt to recover from a muscle injury that he sustained against Watford in midweek.

The summer signing has been an ever-present for Man Utd so far this season, and given the influence he has had on the team in terms of offering solidity and a player that can make United tick in midfield, his absence would be a major blow.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils will have to be cautious with him even though it’s suggested in the report that he still could feature, as they won’t want to rush him back from the injury and risk seeing him sidelined for even longer.

That could be a big problem for their title hopes, especially with a showdown with rivals Man City to come on December 10 and so they’ll surely want to protect him.

In turn, it presents a real problem for Mourinho ahead of the game, but with Arsenal also suffering disappointment with their own injury setback after Alexandre Lacazette’s knock, as per BBC Sport, both sides could be forced to adjust.
