Barcelona keen to sign Manchester United target despite rumours he’s already agreed Real Madrid transfer

Barcelona are reportedly considering a transfer swoop for Chelsea defender David Luiz amid rumours also linking him with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The Brazil international was one of the finest defenders in Europe last season as he played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League title victory, though his Stamford Bridge future now looks in doubt.

UOL recently claimed Luiz feels he has no future at Chelsea under Antonio Conte, who has left him out of a number of games recently as youngster Andreas Christensen now looks to be first choice at centre-back.

The Daily Express have linked the 30-year-old with Manchester United, though Diario Gol suggest he’s already agreed terms on a move to Real Madrid.

With January approaching, there is bound to be plenty of speculation surrounding players who aren’t currently playing regularly, especially with the World Cup coming up in the summer.

Luiz will want to be first choice for Brazil at next summer’s tournament in Russia, and Don Balon report that Barcelona could be the latest club to rescue him from his situation at Stamford Bridge.

The Catalan giants want more depth in defence and could sign Luiz on loan, though it remains to be seen if this is now a lost cause if recent reports of an agreement with Madrid are correct.

Chelsea fans will surely be hoping Luiz isn’t offloaded so quickly after a little dip in form, with the former PSG man always proving a popular figure among both staff and supporters at the club.
