Manchester United and Chelsea fans may be breathing a sigh of relief with the latest transfer rumours involving Real Madrid’s search for a new goalkeeper.
According to Don Balon, the Spanish giants are now considering a surprise raid on rivals Atletico Madrid, with their shot-stopper Jan Oblak emerging as a new potential target for that position.
Diario Gol recently linked David de Gea as a target for Real, though mentioned his big wage demands in order to seal a move to the Bernabeu, which may have since put them off pursuing the deal.
Another report from Diario Gol has linked Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois as an alternative to De Gea for Real, but it seems the Belgian is also no longer being considered.
Oblak has shone for Atletico Madrid and could be good enough to make the step up to playing for Los Blancos.
The Slovenia international has had a strong defence in front of him in Diego Simeone’s side, but has also stood out with some great reflex saves between the sticks for Atletico.
Keylor Navas is currently first choice for Zinedine Zidane’s side, but it is unsurprising to see the club targeting a bigger name.
United and Chelsea fans will surely be delighted to see their ‘keepers may no longer be at such a risk of moving on.
