Man Utd eye new record signing with whopping £95m bid for Serie A star

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has long been impressing Serie A fans, and reports claim he’s also got an admirer in Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old already has 93 appearances for the Biancocelesti under his belt, while he finally made his long-awaited debut for the senior Serbian national team this year.

Aside from the steady progress in statistics, with seven goals in 39 outings last season while he’s already got six in 19 this year, Milinkovic-Savic has matured and improved his all-round game in Italy.

His powerful driving runs from midfield coupled with his tenacity make him a great prospect who will only get better, and so it’s no real surprise that Mourinho has scouted him and set his sights on a bid, as per The Express, who claim a staggering £95m bid will be lodged by the Red Devils.

As noted by BBC Sport, United broke their club record and set a world-record transfer fee when they re-signed Paul Pogba last year for £89m, but they’ll have to go above that it seems to land the signature of Milinkovic-Savic.

With Michael Carrick reaching the end of his career and Marouane Fellaini facing an uncertain future with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, midfield reinforcements may well be needed at Old Trafford sooner rather than later.

Pairing Milinkovic-Savic up with Pogba in that area of the pitch could be a masterstroke, setting Man Utd up for years to come with pillars of their future with both players possessing bags of talent.
