Good news, Manchester United: Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona transfer plunged into doubt

Posted by

Despite recent Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona transfer speculation, latest reports suggest the Atletico Madrid star and Manchester United target’s arrival could be vetoed by Lionel Messi.

Don Balon claim the Argentine could have the final say on whether or not Griezmann comes in, and it’s thought he doesn’t want him if it means his friend Luis Suarez loses his place up front.

Messi and Suarez have struck up a superb understanding over the last few seasons, and it’s little surprise to see that the player doesn’t want that partnership to end, even if the latter isn’t in the best of form this season.

Griezmann could be an exciting upgrade for Barca in that position, and also offers the club an option out wide or in a supporting role in attack.

Still, United may want to keep an eye on this situation as previous reports from Don Balon have claimed United looked in a strong position to snap up the Frenchman after holding talks with him recently.

The Independent have since suggested United could miss out on Griezmann to Barcelona, but this latest update surely means there’s still hope of him ending up at Old Trafford.

United look like they need more up front after some unconvincing recent form from Romelu Lukaku, while the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is yet to make much of an impact since returning from a lengthy injury.
