Man United had Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard to thank tonight, as the pair’s goals secured the Red Devils a 2-1 win over West Brom at the Hawthorns.
United opened the scoring through a deft header from Lukaku midway through the first half after Ashley Young swung in an inviting cross.
United then doubled their lead after Jesse Lingard’s shot took a deflection off of Ahmed Hegazi before flying past Ben Foster.
West Brom pulled one back through Gareth Barry however Jose Mourinho’s side were able to hold on to secure their sixth win in seven games.
Man United forward Lukaku was exceptional this afternoon, with the former Baggies frontman scoring his second goal in two games as United closed the gap on their rivals Man City.
Here are a few select tweets summing up just how good the 24-year-old was today.
Classic Lukaku goal – strong and dominant against his man, powerful header. Give him service and the man delivers! #quality

Romelu Lukaku having a poor season? Top 5 goal scorers in the league, joint with Aguero. Should also point out that he has the same amount of goals as Ozil, Sanchez & Lacazette combined.

Oh and what do ye want from @RomeluLukaku9? He has to celebrate every goal like he's won the premier league title in December now? Jog on. Superb header that was. Lukaku + service = Goals. Not difficult maths that.

15 goals (all competitions) this season for Lukaku. Not half bad. He has to use his body much better and service to him has to be more varied. Can't fault him if you don't feed him.

Lukaku’s build-up play – when not isolated – has generally been very good this season. He doesn’t get enough credit for that.

That goal and the one against Bournemouth in midweek shows what Lukaku can do when you play to his strengths

Here we go again, cross it into Lukaku and he will score. It's so easy to see. Can trouble any defender in the world in the air.

THAT, however, is another cracking header from Lukaku. Belting.
