Champions League giants make opening bid to beat Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid to Chelsea transfer raid

Barcelona have reportedly made an opening offer about taking Chelsea defender David Luiz on loan in the January transfer window amid links with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Brazil international has not been a regular in Antonio Conte’s side of late, with youngster Andreas Christensen impressing in his absence.

It could now be a long way back for Luiz at Chelsea, and that has led to plenty of recent speculation over his future.

David Luiz to Arsenal or Manchester United?

The Daily Express have linked Luiz with Manchester United, while a more recent report from the Express claimed he could even be a transfer target for Arsenal.

However, it would not be at all surprising if the Blues felt they did not want to let the 30-year-old leave for a Premier League rival after showing such top form throughout their title-winning campaign last season.

Luiz may be erratic in his performances occasionally, but he’s also enjoyed a career at the top level and is not a player Chelsea would want to come up against in the Premier League.

While Don Balon have also claimed Luiz is closing in on a move to Real Madrid, Telefoot, as translated by the Metro, suggest Barcelona have opened talks over a loan move for the former PSG man.

This could make more sense for Chelsea, while Luiz himself could also be keen on the deal after recent reports from Sport that he himself had contacted the Catalan giants about joining them this season.
