Arsenal set for £30m transfer scrap with Chelsea after scouting top starlet

It seems Bayer Leverkusen youngster Leon Bailey is doing something right, as reports claim Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on signing him.

There’s no denying that the 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine season to this point with the Bundesliga outfit, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 16 appearances as he flourishes on the left wing.

Bailey can also play on the opposite flank, but the Jamaican international has certainly looked a top prospect in his more natural position and his form this year has seemingly led to interest from the Premier League.

According to The Express, Arsenal and Chelsea are ready for a transfer battle to land his signature in a deal that could cost them £30m.

While it’s noted that Chelsea have been keen on the youngster for some time, Arsenal have seemingly stepped their interest up in more recent times having been to scout Bailey as recently as last week.

It’s obvious as to why both clubs would want him, with Chelsea struggling with quality and depth this season and Bailey could certainly offer them a great alternative to the likes of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian in the wide attacking positions.

As for Arsenal, it’s surely time Arsene Wenger stopped showing faith in the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi, albeit the latter is still young but he continues to struggle to make a decisive impact in the senior side.

With the threat of losing Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the end of the season looming large over them still, reinforcements could be needed and so Bailey could be a long-term fix and a top talent to add to the squad as he’s not only proven he can make an impact now, but he’ll surely only develop further with playing time and faith from a top manager.
