Bad news for Real Madrid, Tottenham eye new £100k-a-week deal for key figure

Tottenham are wisely trying to lock down the future of one of their biggest stars, with reports claiming a lucrative deal could be on the table for Dele Alli.

The 21-year-old hasn’t quite hit top form this season, although he does still have more than respectable tallies of nine goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.

Comparing it to last season though where he had 22 goals and 13 assists in 50 outings, he’s got a way to go to replicate that level of form.

Either way, Alli is an important part of the plans being made at Tottenham, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side trying to push on and compete for major honours while they’ve got a brand new stadium on the way too.

The England international will be pivotal in making sure that they don’t drop off, and so it’s no surprise that The Telegraph claim a new £100,000-a-week deal is being prepared for him by Spurs.

It’s added that Alli could double his current wage packet, while The Sun note that there is reported interest from Real Madrid which could make this a response to that.

With so many reasons to stay in north London, there’s a strong argument for Alli to stick with Spurs and continue his development into a top player for club and country.

A financial boost will surely help him make that decision too, but the appeal of playing for a European giant like Real Madrid will surely raise concerns.

With question marks over Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo due to injuries, lack of form and age, Los Blancos could be plotting an ambitious rebuild for the long-term future. However, it would appear as though Tottenham have no interest in allowing Alli to be part of it.
