Police hunt suspect after Tottenham fan suffered broken skull and eye socket at hands of fellow Spurs supporters who mistakenly thought he followed Chelsea

Police are hunting football thugs after a Tottenham fan suffered a broken skull and eye socket when he was mistakenly assaulted for 'supporting Chelsea'.

Michael Voller, 23, was savagely attacked outside the Moore Spice Indian restaurant, moments after he left Wembley Stadium in north London, on April 22.

He had been watching Spurs play Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final when he was singled out and brutally punched in the face.

Police believe that he was beaten because fellow fans thought he supported their fierce rivals.

Detectives have now released a CCTV image of a man wanted for questioning.

The suspect is a white man in his early 20s, approximately 5ft 10ins tall. At the time of the attack he was wearing a black hooded top or jacket.

It is hoped that football fans at Wembley will now be able to help identify the man.

Detective Constable James Robb of Brent CID, the investigating officer said: 'This unprovoked and cowardly attack has resulted in injuries that could affect the rest of a young man's life.'

'There is no place for this kind of violence in football or anywhere else. We will not stop with our investigation until the culprit(s) are brought to justice. 

Someone knows who committed this unprovoked attack and I sincerely hope they do the right thing and help us place this violent individual before the courts. '

A 21-year-old man arrested on May 9 on suspicion of assault was released with no further action.
