Injured Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy continues FIFA 18 rage during Instagram video as team-mate Sergio Aguero mocks him

  • Benjamin Mendy has appeared four times since joining Manchester City
  • The 23-year-old signed for Pep Guradiola's City during the summer for £52m
  • Mendy was ruled out for 'months' after limping off against Crystal Palace
  • The defender has since been awarded a 78 rating on the new FIFA 18 game
  • But feels the rating is harsh, expressing his disappointment over Instagram

Benjamin Mendy believes his FIFA 18 rating reflects his current injured state rather than his football ability as he rants during an Instagram video.

The French defender was awarded an overall rating of 78 for the latest installment of the FIFA gaming series, but upon release, Mendy was not best pleased.

During the video rant published by Manchester City's official Instagram, Mendy insists his statistics are wrong, claiming he could play to the stats given with his current injury.

Mendy suffered a knee injured as City thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0 on Saturday, and was forced to watch from the stands while his team-mates extended their lead at the top of their Champions League group with a 2-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Now though, Pep Guardiola fears the 23-year-old, who arrived in the summer for £52million, will be absent for 'months' after appearing in four of City's first six Premier League games.

The defender traveled to Barcelona on Wednesday seeking specialist advice, and now awaits the results of his tests.

'Our first impression is that it will it be a little long, longer than we expected,' said the City boss. 'We would miss him a lot – it would be a major setback.

'It's very frustrating for him. Like what happened last year with Ilkay Gundogan, I feel really sad. For the way we want to play, he is a unique player.'

Despite the blow which couldn't have come at a worse time for City with a trip to Chelsea on Saturday, Guardiola is confident in his team's depth.

'We have alternatives in our squad in Danilo, (Fabian) Delph, Fernandinho, even (Oleksandr) Zinchenko.'
