Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is thrilled to have Ozil reaching his potential during a promising start to the season.
The 27-year-old was the heartbeat of Arsenal's attack as they swept aside rivals Manchester United 3-0 earlier this month and Wenger believes that performance should be a benchmark for Ozil.
Arsenal's record signing also scored his first goal of the season against Louis van Gaal's side, which Wenger sees as a sign of things to come.
'You want Mesut to score as well in a big game and he did that against Man United,' said Wenger. 'When you are an offensive player that is an important part of it.
'I believe there are goals in him and in that game he has shown it.
'I think it can increase the belief and the hunger of the team. On the other hand you have to show that you can come into every game with that focus.'
Wenger will hope Ozil can replicate his recent form at Watord on Saturday.
The Gunners head to Vicarage Road in second place in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.
