Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims his side will make 'maximum two' signings in the January transfer window as the Frenchman looks to enhance his side's title credentials.
Arsenal had to a grind out a hard 1-0 victory against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday thanks to a goal from Laurent Koscielny and the victory saw them move two points clear of Leicester at the summit of the Premier League.
And Wenger has since revealed that the club's injury list is relenting players while he is active in the transfer market.
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will sign a maximum of two players in the January transfer window
Egypt international Mohamed Elneny is expected to join Arsenal from Basle for £5million next week
Wenger revealed that midfielder Santi Cazorla (right) could be back in action in February for Arsenal
'I don’t give much away (about transfers) because I don’t know,' Wenger said.
'I want to talk about them and hopefully we are capable of doing something in the next 10 days. It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever.
'Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.'
Mohamed Elneny is expected to be the first addition for Wenger next week, when he is expected to complete a £5million switch from Swiss club Basle.
Defender Laurent Koscielny hit the decisive goal as Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday
Arsenal's next match in the Premier League is not until January 13, when they face Liverpool at Anfield
Elneny, 23, is a central midfielder and an Egypt international.
Arsenal's next Premier League match is away to Liverpool on January 13 and before that, they begin the defence of their FA Cup title at home against Sunderland.
