Transfer news LATEST: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League... plus more from Europe

The wheeling and dealing of the transfer window is gathering pace with a number of sides making early moves. 

On Thursday, we reported Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea had joined Manchester City in the race for Virgil van Dijk while Manchester United made Romelu Lukaku a top target after cooling their interest in Antoine Griezmann.

The Reds, meanwhile, had a £28million bid for Mohamed Salah rejected by Roma.

Atletico Madrid's transfer ban as 'changed everything' in the scramble for Alexandre Lacazette's signature, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said.

Mamadou Sakho likely to be too expensive for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace look likely to be priced out of a move for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, with chairman Steve Parish admitting a deal will be 'difficult'.

Victor Lindelof scouting report: Defender set for Manchester United

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof in a deal worth £35million.

Reports in Portugal revealed that Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira had travelled to England to negotiate the sales of Lindelof and his team-mate Nelson Semedo.  

The 23-year-old defender has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Newcastle, although Jose Mourinho is interested in the player and is hoping to strengthen at centre half.

Nice insist boss Lucian Favre is staying amid Borussia Dortmund interest

Nice have issued a statement saying manager Lucien Favre is staying at the club amid interest from Borussia Dortmund and that the decision 'is final and unequivocal.'

Favre is favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel at the German club after he was sacked last week following a fall-out with the club's board.

But Nice say Favre is happy to stay in France after a season where he guided the club to a third-place finish.

Manchester United have cooled their interest in Antoine Griezmann as Jose Mourinho steps up his efforts to buy a new target man this summer.

United have prioritised signing a No 9 ahead of pursuing an £86million deal for Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann, as Sportsmail revealed on Thursday. Mourinho's top target is Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

Liverpool have £28m bid for Mohamed Salah rejected by Roma

Liverpool have failed with their opening bid of £28million to sign Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.

The Egypt international has been identified by Liverpool as having the right profile to add to their squad and the clubs have been in discussions.

Roma, however, value Salah – the former Chelsea winger – closer to £40million and there will be much work for Liverpool to do to secure his release.

Chelsea youngster Abraham on verge of joining Newcastle on loan

Tammy Abraham is on the verge of joining Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United on a season-long loan.

Chelsea initially wanted Abraham to be promoted to their first-team squad, but owing to Benitez’s close relationship with the Blues’ technical director Michael Emenalo, Newcastle have secured a loan deal for the forward. 

Leicester and Brighton were keen to sign the 19-year-old, who scored 26 goals on loan at Bristol City last season.
