ROBERT COTTINGHAM: Arsenal legend David Seaman has said he would be happy if the Gunners made a move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer.

Hart is expected to leave City in the summer transfer window following a year spent out on loan in Serie A with Torino.

The England keeper was shunted out by manager Pep Guardiola for a perceived lack of skills on the ball and was replaced by Claudio Bravo, who joined from Barcelona in August.

PETE JENSON: Jose Mourinho doesn't like being told he is incapable of nurturing youth. At Real Madrid he always felt he had the perfect answer to the accusation: Alvaro Morata.

If Manchester United complete the signing of the Spain centre forward, it will reunite their manager with his unfinished project from those three years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In one particular feisty press conference after Morata had scored the winner and Spanish journalists had questioned why he was not playing more Mourinho said: 'The one who gave him his debut? That was me.

Wolves had the option of signing the Austrian international forward this summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Molineux, where he scored three times in 21 appearances.

When Wolves announced their retained list last month, the club said it was still discussing the possibility of keeping Weimann.

SIMON JONES: Norwich City are closing in on a loan move for Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn. The 21-year-old is the son of former Carrow Road favourite Bryan Gunn and has been tipped for a bright career after impressing for City's U23s throughout last season and England U21s.

The younger Gunn started his career at Norwich before moving to Manchester in 2011 for £255,000 and his return will cast doubts over the role of Declan Rudd.

Norwich released John Ruddy at the end of the season and Rudd, 26, thought he would be given the chance to start as number one, however, the arrival of Gunn will threaten that as competition is heightened.

KIT HOLDEN: At Borussia Dortmund, they are used to great players coming in and out of the eternally revolving door.

The list of top footballers to have played for — and then left — Dortmund over the last few years is almost endless, stretching from Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze.

Usually, though, Dortmund fans can rest easy in the knowledge that they will get at least three or four years from a brilliant young talent before he moves on to grander, more lucrative pastures.

PETE JENSON: So Pepe, the cartoon villain footballer, has finally run off the end of a cliff. He will leave Real Madrid this summer after arriving a decade earlier from Porto for 30m euros.

In keeping with the nature of his career at the club his last game in a Real Madrid shirt saw him score in the city derby and then get taken off after breaking a rib in a collision with team-mate Toni Kroos.

He was often a throttle-back, accident waiting to happen. But the dust ball of arms and legs was always committed and nearly always influential. It should not be forgotten that he was also a very good defender.

KIT HOLDEN: Just under a year ago, Renato Sanches was on top of the world. At 18 years of age, he had burst into the consciousness of world football, his powerful, energetic style becoming one of the enduring motifs of Euro 2016.

The young midfielder had made a name for himself at the tournament, not only being crowned European Champion with Portugal, but also picking up the award for Young Player of the Tournament.

Back then, it seemed like Bayern Munich had been remarkably savvy to secure his signature early in the summer. The likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus must have been kicking themselves for letting Bayern beat them to punch.

The Bosnian attracted interest from top clubs in the Premier League and across Europe and was the subject of a failed bid from Chelsea in January. Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Juventus and AC Milan were all also keenly monitoring the defender.

But Arsene Wenger had been tracking the Bosnia and Herzegovina international for some time and the Gunners, after opening negotiations in April, staved off fierce competition to land their man on a 'long-term contract'.

Amavi joined for £9million from Nice in 2015 but his first season was curtailed by cruciate ligament injury while on international duty. He returned to make 36 appearances overall last season but is ready to make a fresh start.

Villa owner Tony Xia claimed he had rejected a £25m offer for Amavi from China in January and there has been interest from Marseille, Napoli and Atletico Madrid prior to confirmation of their transfer ban.

ANDY WARREN: Dortmund prodigy Christian Pulisic has revealed his admiration for the Premier League but insisted he will remain in Germany this summer despite continued interest from Liverpool.

The Reds have been tracking the teenage American for almost the entirety of Jurgen Klopp's time at the club, with Tottenham also said to be interested, but the youngster has again insisted he is happy to continue his development in Germany.

He did, however, insist the Premier League is the competition which helped nurture his interest in football in his even younger days.

He became certain about the Dutchman's qualities after watching the centre half put Daniel Sturridge in his pocket when the Saints won their EFL Cup semi-final first leg 1-0.

After that game in January, former Southampton and Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp said on TV about van Dijk: 'He's the modern-day centre back who can come forward with the ball. He could play for any team in the future — Barcelona, Real Madrid — he's that good.'

DOMINIC KING: Liverpool are ready to pay the world record transfer fee for a defender after Virgil van Dijk made it clear he wants to play for Jurgen Klopp.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have been chasing the 25-year-old Southampton star, but Liverpool are poised to win the race thanks to the lure of working with their charismatic manager.

It will take a fee close to £60million — £10m more than City paid Everton for John Stones — to land Van Dijk, with 10 per cent of that sum going to his former club Celtic because of a sell-on clause when they accepted Southampton’s £11.5m bid for Van Dijk in August 2015.

The Toffees are expected to hold out for £70million for their star man — and Lukaku has now admitted he 'knows what's going on'.

City discussing a move for Southampton and England left back Bertrand

SIMON JONES: Manchester City are discussing a move for Southampton and England left back Ryan Bertrand. Negotiations over a deal for Monaco's Benjamin Mendy have stalled with the French champions saying a £40million fee has still to be reached.

Any talks are further complicated by the fact Mendy is on international duty with France until after they play England next week.

Though the Mendy deal is still alive, England international Bertrand has emerged as a realistic target, however it is understood nothing has yet been agreed between City and Southampton.

SIMON JONES: Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton are showing interest in Bolton Wanderers prospect Max Broughton.

The 16-year-old midfielder has been impressing playing for Bolton's U18s and has earned recognition from England at youth level.

SIMON JONES: Manchester City do not intend to rival Liverpool in a record bid for Virgil van Dijk. The Southampton centre back is a player Pep Guardiola admires and he was on their list of potential targets as City initially considered a bid in January.

However, Southampton's £60million valuation, a world record fee for a defender, is regarded as too high for the 25-year-old Dutchman who is just recovering from the foot ligament injury that curtailed his second season in the Premier League.

For the asking price, there were also reservations that he has limited experience of competitive European football. City have been considering other options for the position though Guardiola has great belief that John Stones will kick on and has been heartened by the return of Vincent Kompany.
