Inter Milan 'set to keep' Manchester United target Ivan Perisic with Serie A outfit confident of avoiding Financial Fair Play sanctions

Inter Milan directors have blocked Manchester United's pursuit of Ivan Perisic as the Italians are confident they will not have to sell the winger to avoid Financial Fair Play (FFP) sanctions.

The Serie A outfit have until the end of Friday to raise €30million (£26m) or face a €7million (£6m) fine for breaching UEFA's FFP rules, meaning United were waiting in the wings to exploit them and land Perisic.

However, Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport have reported that Inter, who finished seventh in Serie A last season, will be able to keep the star players they want through raising money from other departures.

Ever Banega is moving to Sevilla for €9million (£7.9m), while Inter hope to raise €13million (£11.4m) through the sale of Gianluca Caprari to Sampdoria.

Meanwhile, Senna Miangue's move to Cagliari will cost €3.5million (£3.1m), Federico Dimarco to Sion will be €2million (£1.8m) and Fabio Eguelfi will cost Atalanta €1.5million (£1.3m).

Inter will then look to raise a substantial amount of money from the likely departures of Andrea Ranocchia, George Puscas and Andrew Gravillon.

United are said to have prepared a £44million bid for Perisic but the money that Inter will raise from their potential departures this summer will likely ramp up the cost of the 28-year-old.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to bolster his options in the transfer window ahead of United's campaign in the Champions League next season.

The former Chelsea manager is looking to add a world-class striker to his ranks, with both Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku his main targets this summer.
