Rodriguez reaction

More reaction from Jay Rodriguez after completing his move to the Hawthorns.

He told the club's official website: 'After one or two 'near misses' I'm absolutely buzzing to be here," says Jay, referring to Albion's two previously thwarted attempts to recruit him from the St Mary's Stadium.

'The most important thing for any player is to be wanted – and Tony Pulis and Albion have made it clear just how much they have wanted me to join. That's fantastic for any footballer to hear.

'I'm genuinely delighted to be joining a club of Albion's stature. The team is full of top players and it's pretty clear that they are also a great set of lads.

Heartbreak kid joins Hamburg

Fresh off the back of breaking English hearts and lifting the European Under-21 Championship trophy, Germany Under 21s goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck has passed a medical at Hamburg and is set to sign from Kaiserslautern.

The shot-stopper kept out efforts from Tammy Abraham and Nathan Redmond to send Aidy Boothroyd's men crashing out at the semi-final stage on penalties... again.

From Oldham to Barca?

Well played Ryan McLaughlin, well played. The Oldham defender made plenty of people believe he was the transfer story of the summer so far with a cheeky snap at the Nou Camp.

As Glen Williams explains: 'The Oldham player took a tour of the Nou Camp while on holiday in Catalonia and posted a photo of himself holding a Barca shirt.

'He accompanied the photo with the caption: "New chapter. Thanks for the messages everyone buzzing to get started at such a big club like Barcelona. Honoured #viscabarca #gracias."'

Not quite the dream move, but a decent holiday nonetheless by the looks of things.

Bye-Bye Bakayoko?

Tiemoue Bakayoko has been back in Monaco today, but has he just been saying his goodbyes ahead of a proposed move to Chelsea?

The midfielder was pictured back at the training centre with Leonardo Jardim, but with pre-season still weeks away, there appears few other reasons for his visit other than a few final words of wisdom from his manager

Gosling pens new deal

After a flying start to the transfer window, Bournemouth have turned their attentions to their current stars.

Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe have all come through the door, and now Dan Gosling has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.

The former Everton and Newcastle midfielder told the club's official website: 'I've really enjoyed my three years here. It's gone so fast but I believe I've improved immensely, working with the manager and his coaching staff.

'In that time we have gained promotion and spent two years in the Premier League, so it couldn't have gone any better. My goal now is to be a mainstay in the side and keep adding to my game.'

North of the border, Celtic are looking to take another Premier League starlet to aid their Champions League hopes this season.

Patrick Roberts became a firm fans favourite over two seasons on loan at Parkhead, and Brendan Rodgers wants to replicate the success of the Manchester City forward with Chelsea's Charly Musonda.

According to Sportsmail's Graeme Croser: 'Brendan Rodgers on Saturday night revealed that he is closing in on a big-money deal to secure the playmaker he believes can help take Celtic to the next level.

'The Parkhead boss admits he is ready to splash out on a young player of "substantial pedigree and quality" to aid the club's efforts to qualify for the Champions League.

'Sportsmail understands the player in question is Chelsea's 20-year-old midfielder Charly Musonda.'

Real and PSG ready to go to war over Mbappe

The battle for the signature of Kylian Mbappe could prove to be the most fascinating of the transfer window.

The player himself added fuel to the fire this week by changing his Twitter bio, deleting any reference to Monaco.

And now Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are set to spark a bidding war, with the French side understood to have made a jaw-dropping bid of just over £120million.

Antonio Conte has spent most of the summer so far clearing out his defence to make way for new signings.

Captain, leader, legend John Terry has left the club and Nathan Ake has joined Bournemouth for £20million, meaning there are gaps to fill.

It was thought that Leonardo Bonucci was one of Conte's main targets, however Tuttosport suggest that Barcelona have emerged as favourites having entered the race for the Juventus centre back.

They say that La Liga is the most likely destination for the defender, and although the Serie A side are unwilling to sell, they would not stand in Bonucci's way should he ask to leave.

Frist then to the news from overnight, and that Arsenal will refuse to sell star winger Alexis Sanchez to a Premier League rival.

It is thought that Manchester City, and a reunion with Pep Guardiola, would be the Chilean's first choice, but Arsene Wenger is ready to block any move to the Etihad, following the lose of a number of stars to the Manchester club over the years.

It is thought that this puts Paris Saint-Germain in the driving seat, but as Rob Draper explains: 'Arsenal will tell Alexis Sanchez he will not be sold to Manchester City, meaning their pre-season is likely to be disrupted by the desire of the forward to join Pep Guardiola.

'Now they have the financial strength to refuse any bid, they will tell Sanchez to join a foreign club, with Paris Saint-Germain favourites, or see out the final year of his deal, when he can leave on a free.'
