Manchester City are pushing ahead with an impressive summer of early business by making strides in their pursuit of Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy.

The French champions have signed Terence Kongolo from Feyenoord in a deal that could trigger City’s £39million move for Mendy to join new boys Bernardo Silva and Ederson at the Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and a host of other Premier League sides are in the market to strengthen their squads just days after the transfer window opened.

SIMON JONES: Chelsea and Roma have agreed a fee of £30.7million plus another £3.5million in add-ons for Antonio Rudiger.

The Germany international is in talks with Chelsea ahead of his proposed move.

Chelsea are struggling to find agreement with Juventus over Alex Sandro but have asked about Real Madrid full-back Danilo who is also a Juventus target.

Harry Kane would only leave Tottenham for Real Madrid - Tim Sherwood

Tottenham star Harry Kane would only consider leaving if Real Madrid came in for him, according to his former manager Tim Sherwood.

The striker has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United in each of the last two summer windows, but it appears that only a move to the Bernabeu will convince him to leave.

He told talkSPORT: 'The only danger is if Real Madrid come and go for him as they did with [Luka] Modric and [Gareth] Bale. Then it'll be a real test for the resolve of Tottenham and whether they want to keep him or not.'

Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Jurgen Klopp will always be on the German club's radar due to his Bundesliga credentials. 

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles during his time in Germany with Borussia Dortmund before taking up the reins at Anfield in October 2015. 

The 50-year-old German tactician is yet to add to trophy haul in England but Hitzfeld, who managed Bayern Munich during two separate spells, believes he could one day take control of the Allianz Arena outfit.

Roque Mesa's transfer to Swansea is on the verge of completion, according to Las Palmas sporting director Toni Cruz.

Swansea are expected to tie up the £11.5million signing of the highly-rated Spanish midfielder in the next 24 hours or so.

'There is already agreement for the transfer of Roque to Swansea City and tomorrow (it) can be made official,' said Cruz, speaking at a press conference to unveil new Las Palmas coach Manolo Marquez.

SIMON JONES: Former Everton striker Arouna Kone has signed for Turkish side Sivasspor on a two year contract.

The 33-year-old Kone was released by Everton after his contract expired at the end of last month. Roberto Martinez signed him for Everton from Wigan for £6m in 2013.

Ajax's director of football Marc Overmars insists the Dutch club are determined to hold on to their star players, following the departure of Davy Klaassen to Everton.

Kasper Dolberg and Amin Younes have both been linked with other clubs but former Arsenal winger Overmars has ruled out selling either player, and insists Dolberg can form a formidable partnership with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who recently returned to Ajax on a free transfer from German club Schalke.

'Kasper Dolberg and Amin Younes are not for sale,' Overmars told De Telegraaf. 'Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Dolberg are a top tandem of master and student.'

Manager Sean Dyche is in the market for a replacement for Andre Gray who is set to leave Turf Moor with just one year left on his contract.

Yes, the Magpies took the decision to confirm a deal for Florian Lejeune at 8am this morning.
