Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness admits summer move for Alexis Sanchez is 'probably not feasible' amid interest from Manchester City

  • Alexis Sanchez is yet to commit to Arsenal with only one year left on his contract
  • Manchester City and Bayern Munich have both been linked with the 28-year-old
  • City could offer the Chile international wages worth up to £350,000 a week
  • Uli Hoeness admits Bayern Munich would struggle to match such a huge offer

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has played down reports linking the German champions with Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and admits it is 'probably not feasible' for the Bundesliga giants to compete with a big-money offer from Manchester City.

Sanchez, who has only one year left on his contract at the Emirates, is yet to commit his long-term future to the Gunners and has been linked with a number of elite clubs around Europe after scoring 30 goals in all competitions last season.

Manchester City are thought to be at the front of the queue for the Chile international, with Pep Guardiola willing to offer the 28-year-old forward astronomical wages potentially worth £350,000 a week at the Etihad.

Sanchez is also likely to cost any potential bidders north of £50million and Hoeness admits Bayern would struggle to match City if the two clubs went head-to-head.

'I'm not in the operational side. [Chairman] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has not yet come to me, so the matter doesn't seem to be too urgent with him,' he said, as quoted by Kicker.

'A €20m (£17.5m) salary is probably not feasible.'

Former Bayern manager Ottmar Hitzfeld also believes a deal for Sanchez is unlikely, and insists the German champions already have enough quality in their squad.

'If you could get a Sanchez, someone would have to go back to the bank - that can create problems,' Hitzfeld told t-online.de.

'Bayern will be wondering if they really get someone else in this category.

'One must not forget that you have incredible players with Ribery, Robben, Muller, Thiago, Lewandowski.'
