Chelsea's new defender Antonio Rudiger has sent a message to his fans following his move from Roma, promising to give his all for the shirt.

The 24-year-old Germany international will cost the Stamford Bridge club an initial £29million with add-ons potentially taking the deal to £33.3m.

Rudiger will take over the number two shirt left vacant after Branislav Ivanovic's departure to Zenit St Petersburg in February.

He said: 'Thank you very much for your patience. I'm happy to be here, and I will try to give 100 per cent.'

Bundesliga side Stuttgart have confirmed the arrival of Chadrac Akolo on a four-year deal from Sion.

The 22-year-old joins the club hoping to consolidate their top flight status after their promotion last season.

Kinshasa-born Akolo, who scored 15 goals for Sion last term, told the club's official site: 'I had a successful time in Switzerland, for which I am very grateful.

'Now I am looking forward to the challenges in the Bundesliga and to playing for my new club, Stuttgart.

'I would like to get to know my team-mates at the upcoming training camp, and over the coming weeks and months I hope I can help us have a good campaign.'

Former Everton midfielder and current club ambassador Leon Osman has spoken of the huge benefits following Waye Rooney's return to the Toffees.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ, Osman, who is currently in Tanzania ahead of Everton's first pre-season friendly, said: 'It's fantastic. It's news I've been waiting on for a while, and it's been in the pipeline for a while.

'Ronald Koeman made it clear he wanted him at Everton, there's a few things that's happened behind the scenes,and he's worked hard to make it possible.

'I believe he still has it. I disagree with people who say his powers have gone, he was at such a height, that he still has so much to offer. Not only will he be a success on the pitch but he will help the development of the kids at the club.

'From a commercial aspect, when the news hit Tanzania, the place went crazy. If he comes out here with the squad next week, he'll get mobbed.

'He can play as the lone striker, on the left, the right as Jose Mourinho did, or as a No 10. He could potentially be captain, but I believe Phil Jagielka has time left in him and Seamus Coleman has been quietly staking his claim. He's a legend and I'm sure he'll be delighted to be offered the armband.

On the Lukaku move to United, Osman added: 'It's not quite gone through yet, but it looks like it's a about to happen. Because he wants to leave the club, then it's down to Koeman to get as much out of the deal as possible.'

Everton have revealed that Wayne Rooney will wear the No 10 shirt next season at Goodison Park, with the striker taking the number off Romelu Lukaku - before the club have confirmed the Belgian's exit.

TOM BASSAM: Antonio Rudiger has signed for Chelsea from Roma in a deal worth £31million.

The 24-year-old has penned a five year deal with the Stamford Bridge outfit. Rudiger underwent a medical on Sunday before he finalised his move to the Premier League champions.

The initial fee for Rudiger is £31m - but the deal is packed full of additional payments which could take the overall fee to £35m.

The Blues announced the deal in unique fashion, posting a video on Twitter of a young boy asking his father if he can get Rudiger on the back of his Chelsea shirt in the club store.

SPENCER MORGAN: James Rodriguez looks set to leave Real Madrid having told the club he wants a move sorted within the next 48 hours.

Madrid travel to the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour and Rodriguez is not planning on joining them.

The club have signed young Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos, paving the way for Rodriguez to make his departure.

Manager Brendan Rodgers reckons Celtic got a taste of things to come from Jonny Hayes after watching the Irishman open his Hoops account on Saturday.

The £1.3million capture from Aberdeen netted his first goal for his new club during the 9-0 romp over Shamrock Rovers.

And Rodgers reckons the Dubliner showed plenty to be excited about on his return to his home city.

He told CelticTV: 'When you're an attacking player and come to your new club it's important to get off the mark early.

'He has settled in very well off the field. He is a good guy, a mature guy, and he has mixed in really well over the last couple of weeks.

'We don't need to rush him but he's going to make a big contribution to the squad and you saw that today in the half hour he was on, when he showed his pace and his crossing ability. He has an eye for a goal.

'He got his goal and that will make him happy and he can continue to build on that throughout the season.'

ROBERT COTTINGHAM: Juventus are closing in on deals to sign Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa, Federico Bernardeschi of Fiorentina and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A champions have already added Chelsea's Juan Cuadrado and Bayern's Medhi Benatia on permanent deals following their loan spells at the club, while 20-year-old midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has joined from Boca Juniors.

Celtic were on the brink of securing the signature of Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham on Saturday night.

SIMON JONES: Everton are ready to open the bidding for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud after Romelu Lukaku leaves the club.

Lukaku will finalise his potential £90million move to Manchester United and Everton would ideally like Giroud as a replacement.

Romelu Lukaku has admitted he did not think twice about agreeing to join Manchester United when the opportunity arose, describing the Red Devils as the 'biggest club in the world'.

United announced on Saturday they had reached an agreement with Everton to sign the 24-year-old in a deal understood to be worth an initial £75million, rising to an astonishing £90million.

ROBERT COTTINGHAM: Cristiano Ronaldo has undergone a change of heart over his future and has decided to remain at Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. 

Madrid president Florentino Perez admitted Ronaldo was left 'angry and hurt' after accusations from the Spanish authorities that he had evaded £12.9million in tax.

The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is available as he wants to play in the top flight and manager Simon Grayson will sell to help boost his transfer funds.

The Brazilian full-back was expected to have his medical at City early this week after agreeing terms on a two year contract following his departure from Juventus.
