Jesse Lingard goads Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford after heavy table-tennis defeat

The bromance between Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard has been tested during Manchester United's US tour after the fall-out from a one-sided game of table-tennis was caught on camera. 

The United and England youngsters have a very close relationship off the pitch, pictured poolside in Florida last month, but Rashford was far from impressed after Lingard captured his reaction to a heavy defeat.

With the club currently preparing for face LA Galaxy on Saturday at the StubHub Center - the first of five friendlies in the USA - Lingard joined his friend for a relaxing game at the team hotel.

Rashford was clearly unimpressed at the manner of his defeat and was quick to make an exit

But if the Rashford thought he was about to take his mind off the rigours of intensive fitness at the start of pre-season training, he was in for a surprise as Lingard put him through his paces.

In footage posted on the midfielder's Instagram story, he tells Rashford: '8-2 and he's quitting. Why are you a quitter? Rash, why you being a quitter?'

The embarrassed forward, who had swiftly made his exit, turns around in a bid to stop the filming, but he can afford a wry smile after accepting the heavy loss on the chin. 

Lingard and Rashford enjoyed time away in Miami, Florida during the close season

The pair sat together on the team flight to Los Angeles this week and are very close friends

The inseparable duo have shown a close allegiance on the pitch, with Lingard coming to Rashford's side during a scuffle on England duty against Slovenia last October.

The telepathy between the pair was displayed throughout the club's Europa League run last term, but ahead of the new campaign, Lingard and Rashford showed their friendship doesn't come in the way of their competitive streak during a period of downtime on the tour of the US.

With the £90million capture of Romelu Lukaku secured, adding to the arrival of Victor Lindelof, Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic to provide extra competition for Lingard.

Meanwhile, United had a very special guest at their training session in Tinseltown on Tuesday as Hollywood A-lister Julia Roberts dropped in to watch the squad limber up for their glamour friendly with LA Galaxy.

The actress, star of Pretty Woman, Notting Hill and Erin Brockovich clearly has a soft spot for United having visited Old Trafford last season.
