  • There has been speculation regarding Gareth Bale's Real Madrid future
  • But the Welshman says he has no desire to leave the European champions
  • He signed a contract in October which will keep him at the club until 2020

Gareth Bale has insisted he has no desire to leave Real Madrid this summer despite links with a transfer to Manchester United.

The Welshman saw the closing weeks of last season ruined by injury but did return to the bench in time to help his side win the Champions League in his home city of Cardiff, but he has faced speculation regarding his future throughout this summer.

After the victory over Juventus, Real coach Zinedine Zidane refused to offer assurances about Bale's future, saying only that it would be decided later in the off-season, but the Welshman has been clear in his thoughts on a possible departure.

'No,' Bale told Marca when asked about potential leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

'Everything has been complicated due to my injury, but for nothing else. I can still play football very well, when I am at the maximum I will give the best again, I signed a long contract in Madrid and I am happy in this club.

'I am sure this is going to be a great season. My plan is to score goals here.'

When asked specifically about a potential move to Old Trafford, Bale replied: 'The truth is that I do not read any of that. Logically I am a British player and I am always linked with a return home.

'It happened with Beckham, with other Englishmen who came to Spain. Nothing new. I am happy playing in Madrid, logically interest is interest, but if there has been nothing concrete, no offer, there is nothing to discuss.'

Bale signed a new deal in October 2016 which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2022.

While Bale intends to stay, one Real Madrid player on the move is striker Alvaro Morata who is set to join AC Milan for a fee of £61million, according to reports in Italy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the deal is close to completion and say the money will be used to up Real's bid to bring Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe to the club.
