AC Milan deny they are close to deal for Manchester United target Renato Sanches as Bayern Munich insist he is only available on season-long loan

  • Renato Sanches is a man in demand, with Manchester United and AC Milan keen
  • There were reports Milan were close to £35m deal, but they have denied it
  • Milan say Bayern Munich's asking price is too high for the young Portuguese
  • Bayern, meanwhile, insist they will only send Sanches out on season-long loan

AC Milan chief Marco Fassone has denied reports that his side are set to sign Renato Sanches, admitting that Bayern Munich's asking price is too high.

Manchester United are also keen on the £35million-rated midfielder, but neither side appear to be close to a deal - with Bayern demanding a huge fee for the youngster.

On top of that, Bayern only appear to want to send him out on a season-long loan, with the club still believing he has a big future at the Allianz Arena.

The German champions signed the Portuguese for £30m last summer, but he failed to hit the heights in the Bundesliga, failing to provide any goals or assists in 25 appearances last season.

Sanches is itching for a move away, but is not yet close to a deal with AC Milan.

'At this moment there are no negotiations,' Milan CEO Fassone told Sky Sport Italia.

'Our rapport with [Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge is very good. We've discussed the situation a couple of times, but at this moment they have a valuation of the player that we are not prepared to match.

'If the situation changes in August, then we are here.'

Bayern CEO Rummenigge has also spoken out on Thursday though, lifting the lid on the club's plan for Sanches.

'We would send him out on loan for maximum one year because we are convinced he can become a good and useful Bayern player,' he said at a press conference in Singapore.

Sanches openly admitted he would like to move in an interview with Bild earlier this month. He said: 'Personally, I am not satisfied with my first year in Munich.

'Of course, I'd like to play more. That's why I would like to change and go to a club that can give me more minutes.'

'AC Milan is an interesting option. If the opportunity arises and the clubs can agree, I would like to see them.

'I am now on the China tour with FC Bayern, but after that we will get together in Munich and hopefully find a solution.'
