Not content going close with a drastic haircut a matter of weeks ago Manchester City's David Silva has done it again - only this time even more drastically.

After becoming the talk of fashion-conscious footballers everywhere by trimming his previously flowing locks the Spanish star has now gone for the 'full Pep' and shaved his head completely.

With an emphatic nod to his City boss Guardiola - who has an equally severe buzz cut - the former Valencia attacker ensured he would start the new Premier League season without hair.

Silva unveiled the new look before he starred in City's 3-0 trouncing of Spurs during their US tour as Brahim Diaz, Raheem Sterling and John Stones fired them to an easy victory in Nashville, Tennessee.

Eschewing the traditional 'short, back and sides' the midfielder opted for a 'number one' all-over his head less than a month after he chose to lop-off his long, dark brown hair - for a back-to-basics look for his eighth campaign in English football.

David Beckham famously unveiled a trend-setting trim in 2000 when he took the clippers to his long blonde locks and Freddie Ljungberg got rid of his red-dyed messy hair in favour of a buzz cut in 2002.

But by choosing for his lack of hair to be the 'mane attraction' the 31-year-old Silva is set to receive cutting remarks from team-mates after channelling his inner Sherlock Combs and Jack The Clipper following his shaved head.

No doubt they will also ask him whether his favourite songs are Led Zeppelin's Hairway to Heaven and Nobody's Fool by Haircut 100.
