Southampton look to have beaten Stoke City to Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina after offering £16.2million.

The 23-year-old is in London with the Juventus squad who faced Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday.

Stoke had held talks on Friday with the Italian champions while West Ham had also posted an interest.

However, Southampton have offered £16.2m plus £1.8m in add-ons for the Gabon international who is keen to link up with Mauricio Pellegrino.

Lemina, who joined Juventus in 2015 from Marseille, is expected to have a medical at Southampton on Monday.

Southampton have been relatively quiet in the transfer market - the £5.7million signing of Polish defender Jan Bednarek from Lech Poznan remains their only purchase of the window so far.

Pellegrino’s side begin their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Swansea on August 12.
