Stoke City have rejected an approach from Swansea City to re-sign Joe Allen.

Swansea have had a £10million bid for Wilfried Bony rejected by Manchester City and are lining up a bid for £20m-rated Nacer Chadli at West Bromwich Albion as they prepare to sell Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton.

Confirming the approach, Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told Radio Stoke: 'Swansea did inquire but we told them quite firmly we are not interested in any kind of sale.

'They made an enquiry, they're a decent club, we told them we aren't interested and that should be the end of the matter.

'Joe had a good season and we're hoping he will have an even better season this time.'
