Manchester United ace Marouane Fellaini has image of his gurning face from the Super Cup final immortalised as a mural... and he loves it

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has become the latest footballer to find himself immortalised as a piece of street art... bizarrely in the form of his own gurning face.

The Belgian recently featured for the Red Devils during their Super Cup final defeat to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

During the clash Fellaini was hit in the face by the ball after going up for a header, with one photographer's exquisite skill meaning the moment was able to be uniquely captured forever.

The image of Fellaini's scrunched up face, mouth agape in recoil from the impact of the ball, was an instant hit on social media.

The snap quickly went viral, with many top personalities and fellow professional footballers talking about the picture.

Following the match Fellaini himself was quickly notified about the image, and opted to share it via his own personal Instagram account.

But things weren't to end there, with one fan taking things to a whole new level.

Instagram user and street artist 'lushsux' used the viral image of Fellaini as inspiration for a latest piece of mural artwork.

It didn't take long for the player himself to see the finished effort online, and Fellaini seemed to be very impressed.

Re-sharing the artwork via his personal account, Fellaini simply captioned the shot with a series of laughing emojis.

Fellaini and United are set to return to action on Sunday when they get their Premier League campaign off the ground.

Jose Mourinho's side will host West Ham at Old Trafford, hoping to overcome the Hammers and get an early three points on the board - kick off 4pm.
