Tottenham to hold talks with Ajax for the transfer of Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez in £28m deal

Tottenham will hold talks with Ajax today over the transfer of Davinson Sanchez after proposing an initial £28million offer for the defender.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also posted their interest in the Colombian centre-back and the Spanish side are understood to be lining up a counter bid but Sanchez wants to play for Tottenham after speaking to Mauricio Pochettino.

The Dutch side have made it clear to the 21-year-old that they do not wish to lose him and have offered him an improved contract but he wants the chance to play in the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

A Tottenham delegation is expected in Amsterdam later today to discuss a deal. 


Ajax value Sanchez at closer to £40million and will look to maximise his price as they face up to the prospect of losing him.

The 21-year-old Colombia defender was left out of the Dutch club's squad to face Heracles on Saturday night after telling coaching staff he was not in the right frame of mind to play.

Ajax had offered Sanchez an improved contract, but the player has set his sights on a move to Spurs. 

Tottenham have also offered £10million for Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop.
