Manchester United's bizarre new Adidas advert features puppets, eight Paul Pogbas, David de Gea playing the drums and a man dressed as a rabbit

  • New Adidas advert featured Manchester United stars in unfamiliar territory
  • Strange clip displayed Jesse Lingard dancing and David de Gea playing drums
  • There was also a puppet version of Juan Mata and Ander Herrera early on
  • Jose Mourinho appears at the end as some sort of conductor saying: 'Ok that's it'

Manchester United's new Adidas advert is as bizarre as you would expect any video involving puppeteers, a rabbit and eight Paul Pogbas to be.

The strange, one minute long 'Here to Create' commercial, features the United stars as you've never seen them before in a disorientating video.

We begin with an aerial shot of Old Trafford, so far so normal, but then things rapidly become more surreal.

Ander Hererra performs keepy-uppies in between two artificial speakers before it cuts to two puppeteers playing with the Spaniard and his compatriot Juan Mata.

In a totally unrelated scene, Jesse Lingard is dancing in a crowd, followed by David de Gea taking out some aggression on a drum set.

No United advert would be complete without a Paul Pogba cameo, and Adidas got their moneys worth, with eight versions of the Frenchman staring back down the camera.

For no apparent reason a man in a rabbit head then appears before Pogba returns as a magician and Jose Mourinho, who appears to have been the architect behind the madness, says: 'Okay, that's it', before walking off.

United's commercial muscle through their work with the likes of Adidas is the backbone behind their big-spending this summer.

And although new additions Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic failed to land a leading role in the advert, the club will be heartened by their start to the season.

Both signings starred as Mourinho's men began the campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over West Ham and United fans will hope their swashbuckling creativity on the pitch is markedly easier to watch than their new ad.
