England boss Gareth Southgate to attend four games in 72 hours as he prepares to name squad for World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia

England manager Gareth Southgate will attend four games in 72 hours this weekend as he finalises his forthcoming squad.

Southgate reveals his party to face Malta and Slovakia on Thursday, two games that could see England book their place at next summer's World Cup.

And the England boss will embark on a whirlwind Premier League tour this week as he looks to finalise his selection and hold talks with his regulars.

ENGLAND'S UPCOMING FIXTURES

September 1: Malta (World Cup qualifier, away)

September 4: Slovakia (World Cup qualifier, home)

October 8: Lithuania (World Cup qualifier, away)

Southgate, who attended Thursday night's Europa League clash between Everton and Hajduk Split, is scheduled to attend Liverpool's home clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday before making the trip to down to Stoke, who host Arsenal.


The two fixtures will give Southgate the opportunity to run the rule over the likes of Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, who could make his return from injury this weekend, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck.

Southgate will then take in Tottenham versus Chelsea at Wembley; where Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Eric Dier are likely to be involved. 

The England boss' final stop will be at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night when Manchester City welcome Everton where Raheem Sterling, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Tom Davies and Wayne Rooney could be involved.

Southgate's assistant manager, Steve Holland, will attend Southampton versus West Ham on Saturday, where Fraser Forster, Ryan Bertrand, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond, Aaron Cresswell and Joe Hart will be under the microscope.

Holland will accompany Southgate to Wembley and the Etihad ahead of a final squad selection meeting next week.
