Arsenal's unhappy record at the Bet 365 Stadium continued as they lost against Stoke for the first time this season.

Here Sportsmail look back at some things you may have missed from an action-packed evening in the Premier League...

A debut strike to remember... for some

It proved a debut to remember for Jese Rodriguez as he scored the only goal of the game to give Stoke all three points against Arsenal.

He latched onto a through ball inside the penalty area and calmly slotted it into the far bottom corner, beneath Petr Cech.

The Spaniard certainly enjoyed his first strike in English football, but perhaps not as much as two home fans.

As Saido Berahino joined his new team-mate in celebration, a photographer captured the moment two Stoke fans fell down the stairs, such was the extent of their joy at taking the lead against Arsenal.

The Premier League is well and truly back, ladies and gentlemen.

Shkodran Mustafi's horror challenge

Somehow Shkodran Mustafi escaped unpunished for a full-blooded, over-the-top tackle on Erik Pieters.

The Stoke defender found himself in unchartered territories as he rampaged upon the opposition penalty area, only to be met by the sizable German defender.

Mustafi committed early, going in studs up on his opponent, taking the ball but taking a fair chunk of the player at the same time. Referee Andre Marriner waved play on.

Pieters writhed around in agony as play continued for up to a minute before the referee eventually checked up on the Dutchman, who managed to finish the game.

New season, new Bet 365 Stadium

A wet Tuesday night. The wind billowing through the four stands of the Bet 365 stadium and blowing an almighty gale. A trip to Stoke has always been painted as the acid test for any Premier League side.

But the times are changing, and into their tenth successive season in England's top-flight they have undergone renovation to the ground.

One of the corners exposed to the elements has now been filled in, adding an extra 1,800 seats and taking the capacity up to 30,000.

As this was the first piece of major work done on the ground since it opened 20 years ago, it naturally meant Saturday's game broke Stoke's attendance record.

The 29,459 beat the 28,218 who saw Stoke's FA Cup clash with Everton in January 2002.

Hector Bellerin at left back

Certain sections of the Arsenal supporter base have been up in arms in recent years with Arsene Wenger as they have seen their side struggle to challenge for major honours.

Three FA Cup triumphs in four years haven't quite made some Gunners forget the complaints at consistent failure in the league and Europe.

He had the fans scratching their heads this time with Hector Bellerin starting at left wing back... with two left backs forming part of a three-man central defence.

They've spent years urging the Frenchman to try new things, and after the mad-cap way in which his line-up finished the 4-3 win over Leicester last week, maybe he is beginning to listen.

Goodbye, Joe Allen's ponytail

The Welsh Xavi/ Pirlo became a cult icon when he grew, grew and grew his hair into a ponytail during his final year at Liverpool.

He became a star cameo under Jurgen Klopp, and then one of the mainstays as Wales reached the semi finals of Euro 2016.

But after excelling in his first season at Stoke, Joe Allen fans up and down the land have come together to mourn the loss of one of the rising stars in the game.

Goodbye ponytail, hello bouffant.

Kurt Zouma's big tackle

Making his home debut following his loan move from Chelsea in the summer, Kurt Zouma made an instant impact upon the home supporters.

Inside the opening quarter of an hour, the Frenchman wowed the Bet 365 crowd with a perfectly timed sliding challenge on Hector Bellerin.

His first half vital statistics? He won 100 per cent of his aerial duels, had 100 per cent pass accuracy, won two tackles, made two clearances and one interception.

Arsenal third kit love-in

Arsenal's stylish new third kit was unveiled in one of the most scenic places on earth - opposite the Sydney Harbour Bridge during their pre-season tour of Australia.

The grey and black design with a pink trim won instant approval, and that seems to have carried over into its first official outing on Saturday.

Arsenal fans purred on Twitter over their new kit like it was a new signing. They hope it will bring them a bit more luck next time out.

While they salivated over their new third kit, perhaps they should take a look at the funky training kit modeled by Olivier Giroud before kick-off?
