Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger labels Gunners defeat a 'frustrating evening' after Jese Rodriguez fired Mark Hughes' Stoke to a 1-0 victory
- Jese Rodriguez joined Stoke from Paris Saint-Germain on loan this summer
- The Spaniard Spaniard scored on his debut in Stoke's 1-0 win over Arsenal
- Arsenal forward had a potential equaliser ruled out due to an offside decision
- Manager Mark Hughes insisted that Jese is 'an elite player' following his debut
- Arsene Wenger claims the offside decision was a 'very easy decision' to make
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has questioned the linesman's decision to rule Alexander Lacazette's potential equaliser offside 'an easy decision to make' following the Gunners' 1-0 defeat at Stoke.
It was Arsenal's first defeat of the season so far, but an angry Wenger felt his side were wrongly denied a goal when Alexandre Lacazette was adjudged to have been offside in the second half.
'I believe we scored a very regular goal that was given offside but was not offside,' the Frenchman said.
But Arsene Wenger believes his team were wrongly denied an equaliser late in the second half
'It is not offside, it is a very easy decision.
'It was a very frustrating evening because we had plenty of chances to score but we did not score. And on top of that we knew it was important not to make a defensive mistake, and then at the start of the second half we were sluggish and we paid a price.'
Jese Rodriguez, who arrived on loan from Paris St Germain earlier this week, had a dream debut, scoring the winner in the second half as Stoke got up and running for the season.
'It was a fantastic finish from Jese,' manager Mark Hughes said. 'Everyone has seen today what he is going to bring to Stoke and to the Premier League.
Jese Rodriguez scored the winner in his Stoke City debut in a 1-0 win over Arsenal
The Spaniard joined from PSG on loan and fired his new team to their first win of the season
'He is an elite player, one that changes games for teams, and we are delighted that he is here.
'I saw glimpses in training and I knew that if we could get him on the pitch and give him moments and opportunities to show what he can do then he would be devastating.
'He is not up to speed yet. He has only had one proper training session with us and I think that shows how professional he is.
'He has come in and wanted to make an impression on the Premier League and I think he has enjoyed himself.'
Manager Mark Hughes has predicted that that the forward could be 'devastating' for Stoke
