Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expects 'world class' Alexis Sanchez to be firing for Arsenal but is not worried about deadly forward as he puts his players through their paces

  • Jurgen Klopp praised Alexis Sanchez but is not worried about his performance
  • Liverpool boss insisted his team must not be distracted from defensive shape
  • He understands there is temptation to track the forward all over the pitch
  • Sanchez is expected to feature for Gunners at Anfield, returning from injury

Jurgen Klopp insists he is not worried about the impact of Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal, despite labelling the returning forward as 'world class'.

The Chilean looks set to feature at Anfield after recovering from an abdominal strain, and will add an extra threat for the Gunners' front line.

But Klopp is not making any specific plans to combat Sanchez's threat, preferring to allow his players to concentrate on their shape and not being drawn out of position.

At a pre-match press conference he said: 'Alexis Sanchez is involved in every situation, he is dominant everywhere that's what a world class player is able to do.

'We don't think too much about it, we defend, we don't follow him all over the pitch. If we concentrate too much on him someone else will show up.'

And the German has called on the home support to provide an even more electric atmosphere than against Hoffenheim on Wednesday night.

'Sanchez gives this team another boost and that's of course wonderful for Arsenal but we all consider that Hoffenheim atmosphere and that's what we want to have again on Sunday afternoon.

'We need the help of the crowd, it was already really good but we can make it really difficult for teams to get anything.'

Arsene Wenger's side will be under pressure to pick up some points following their defeat away at Stoke last time out.

The Frenchman is expected to deliver at the Emirates this season but Klopp backed his adversary.

'Obviously Arsene loves what he is doing, he obviously thinks he has the energy to do this.

'I really respect him a lot for football in general, he is a big, big, big manager in the history of the Premier League and has the power still, I'm happy he is still there.'

If Sanchez and Wenger orchestrate a win at Anfield, perhaps the Liverpool boss will describe his opponents in slightly less effusive terms.
