A Sunday afternoon stroll for Chelsea, who comfortably beat a sluggish Everton.

Two first-half goals, from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata, do the trick at Stamford Bridge.

15:20

All over after four minutes of stoppage time at The Hawthorns and a decent contest comes to a close with honours even.

West Brom took the lead just after the hour mark through Jay Rodriguez, but Peter Crouch capitalised on a defensive howler by Ahmed Hegazy to snatch a late point.

15:16
90min - Chelsea change

The third and final sub for Chelsea sees Victor Moses off and Andreas Christensen on.

15:15
88min - Courtois saves from Gueye

Still Everton coming forward and Idrissa Gueye lets fly from outside the box after Rooney lays the ball back to him. The shot was always rising but Courtois took no chances and tipped the ball over.

15:14
88min - Burke on for Baggies debut

A change for West Brom and it's a first appearance for their new signing Oliver Burke, who replaces their scorer Jay Rodriguez.

15:13
85min - Williams heads wide

A bit of late pressure by Everton as they seek a route back into the game. Gylfi Sigurdsson crosses from the left and Ashley Williams, at full stretch, glances a header just wide.

15:12
85min - Zouma fires wide

Stoke pushing for a winner and Kurt Zouma isn't afraid to let fly from range. It goes across goal and wide of the mark, not troubling Ben Foster.

15:10
Attendance at The Hawthorns
15:09
82min - Williams over

Everton have perked up a little in this second-half and Ashley Williams tries to hook the ball in from the edge of the box after Rooney's free-kick was cleared to him. Lands on the roof of the net and Thibaut Courtois remains untroubled.

15:06
78min - Morata off, Batshuayi on

Another Chelsea change as Michy Batshuayi comes on for the final 13 minutes or so in place of Alvaro Morata, who has been excellent.

15:03
GOAL! West Brom 1 Stoke 1 (Peter Crouch 77)

What a disaster for Ahmed Hegazi and Stoke have been gifted an equaliser. The West Brom defender went to deal with a cross into the box, completely failed to make contact, knocking the ball past Ben Foster and right into Peter Crouch's path. He can't miss the open net with his header.

15:01
Bakayoko coming on

A home debut for Bakayoko, who replaces Pedro.

14:57
70min - Rooney miscues

Ironic cheers as Wayne Rooney tries a shot from the edge of the box. A poor body shot and he mishits it badly under no real pressure. He won't look back fondly on that effort.

And to compound his unhappiness, he is shown a yellow card moment later for dissent. Apparently it was the ref's fault he missed that shot so badly.

14:55
Hughes not happy

Laurie Whitwell at The Hawthorns: Mark Hughes has been locked in conversation with his assistant Mark Bowen since Stoke conceded, clearly angry at his team’s passivity.

Peter Crouch is on already for Jese, who was far less influential here than on his debut against Arsenal, and it may not be long before we see Saido Berahino too.

And as I write that Hughes brings on Ramadan Sobhi for Geoff Cameron.

Tony Pulis responds by bringing on Claudio Yacob for James Morrison.

14:52
66min - Baggies chasing a second

The Baggies close to a second as Ahmed Hegazy leaps highest to meet a free-kick from the right. Straight at Jack Butland and he touches it over the bar.

14:50
63min - Calvert-lewin on

A change for Everton as the ineffective Sandro is replaced by youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

14:47
GOAL! West Brom 1 (Jay Rodriguez 61) Stoke City 0

The breakthrough at last at The Hawthorns and it's Jay Rodriguez who has scored it, his first for the club. It was a brilliant cross by Allan Nyom from the right and Rodriguez, showing pure desire to reach the ball, burst in front of two Stoke defenders to head home.

14:47
59min - Pickford mix-up

Chelsea threaten again and Cesar Azpilicueta drills across a low ball looking for a tap-in. Pickford comes out but doesn't get there following a communication mix-up. They get away with it.

14:42
54min - Moses looking for the third

Chelsea threatening again as Victor Moses charges forward, receives Willian's back heel and gets into the box. Just as he prepares to shoot from a tight angle, Besic slides in to rob him of the ball.

14:40
53min - Rodriguez booked

Over at The Hawthorns, Jay Rodriguez goes into the book for a foul on Erik Pieters.

14:38
50min - Sandro snuffed out

Everton finally go on the attack as Rooney charges forward and feeds a pass into Sandro inside the box. His shot was heading wide but Rudiger had to make sure.

And that is the first time Everton have touched the ball inside the Chelsea box, after 50 minutes.

14:35
48min - Pedro curls shot wide

Pedro with the first chance of the second half for Chelsea. He lets fly from 25 yards but it was always bending wide.

14:32
SECOND-HALF

We're underway once again in both of our matches.

A change for Everton as Mohamed Besic comes on for Tom Davies. A slight delay to the restart as Everton reserve keeper Maarten Stekelenburg was still warming Jordan Pickford up and hadn't realised Chelsea were about to kick off.

14:29
Great start by Morata!
14:17
Half-time: Chelsea 2 Everton 0

Chelsea in complete control at Stamford Bridge, leading by two goals after a totally dominant first-half performance. Everton failed to touch the ball inside the Chelsea box at all and look really sluggish following their Europa League exertions on Thursday.

The first goal was scored by Cesc Fabregas, guided home neatly on the half-volley after he played a one-two with Alvaro Morata.

Morata then added the second, nodding home Cesar Azpilicueta's floated ball in.

Antonio Conte, Manager of Chelsea celebrates his sides second goal
14:16
Half-time: West Brom 0 Stoke City 0

Just one minute of added time at The Hawthorns, where we still await the first goal. Stoke have had the best of it on balance, with Ben Foster's save from Kurt Zouma's deflected shot the highlight of the half. Zouma also headed over from a good position.

Solomon Rondon tries his luck for West Brom
14:10
GOAL! Chelsea 2 (Alvaro Morata 40) Everton 0

And it's two! Five minutes before half-time and Chelsea are absolutely cruising. Jon Moss plays the advantage a couple of times in the build-up and Cesar Azpilicueta plays a searching ball into the box, where Morata had taken up a good position between the two central defenders. He leaps and heads beyond Jordan Pickford to put Chelsea firmly in control.

Apparently that's the eighth headed goal Morata has scored since the start of last season.

Antonio Conte actually missed that goal, he was complaining to the fourth official that a foul wasn't given on Victor Moses in the run-up to it.

14:08
38min - Baggies set-piece

Chris Brunt with the chance to swing in a free-kick for West Brom. It's deep towards the back post and Jack Butland touches it away, colliding with Ahmed Hegazy in the process.

14:06
35min - Willian and Gueye need treatment

Everton haven't yet touched the ball inside Chelsea's penalty area, but Rooney wins a free-kick in the middle of the park and they have the chance to get their big hitters forward.

Sigurdsson delivers but it's cleared. On the way out, Willian and Gueye with a nasty collision and they'll need some treatment.

14:04
34min - Nyom defends well

Jese leading a quick counter-attack for Stoke but he's unable to get past the muscular Allan Nyom at right-back for West Brom. They tangle, Nyom doing well not to foul inside the box. The Baggies defender sees the ball out for a goal kick.

14:03
'Everton look a bit leggy'

The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge has come to life as the Chelsea fans sing for Antonio Conte.

Ian Ladyman at Stamford Bridge: Lovely finish by Fabregas with outside of the foot on the half volley. Chelsea looking very much like the Chelsea of last season thus far. Everton looking a bit leggy after two games in the week.

Their outlet when they look to relieve pressure is Sandro Ramirez up front and he hasn’t been up to it so far.

Rooney playing on the right of a supporting two but scurrying about all over the place which is always a sign of a difficult afternoon for his team.

13:57
GOAL! Chelsea 1 (Cesc Fabregas 27) Everton 0

Well I guess Fabregas will be forgiven that bad corner now. He's fired Chelsea in front. A nicely-worked move with Willian into Fabregas on the edge of the box. He manages to play a one-two with Morata, who nods the ball down to him and he steers the ball skilfully into the far corner of the net.

Oliver Todd at Stamford Bridge: ...And just like that, they find a way inside for the first time and score the opener!

Baines and Holgate have stuck to their tasks of marking Alonso and Moses out wide to prevent the wing backs overlapping but with Fabregas advancing, Chelsea overload Everton in the box instead and the former Barcelona midfielder pokes them in front.

13:57
26min - Terrible Fabregas corner

Chelsea win their second corner of the game but Cesc Fabregas takes an absolutely awful corner. A low pass that is easily cleared by the first man. Everyone looks bemused.

13:55
Chelsea being kept at bay

Oliver Todd at Stamford Bridge: Chelsea with the majority of the possession here so far but it’s not really giving them many attacking chances.

Everton’s back three of Michael Keane, Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka have done well to spot danger early, cutting off supply lines to Alvaro Morata and allowing Chelsea’s hold of the ball not to damage them too much.

They’re not offering too much at the other end just yet, but Koeman’s men have made a well-organised start at Stamford Bridge.

Everton's Wayne Rooney, centre left, fights for the ball with Chelsea's N'Golo Kante
13:54
25min - Zouma shot pushed over

So close for Stoke. Kurt Zouma has the chance to break forward and he shoots from 25 yards, the ball looping up awkwardly off Gareth Barry's heel. It is about to drop in but Ben Fosters scrambles back to tip it over the bar.

13:52
21min - Rooney felled by Alonso

Marcos Alonso leaves Wayne Rooney writhing on the turf following a hard challenge as the Everton man tries to turn away from him. A little contact by N'Golo Kante in there as well. Looked like the follow-through from Alonso's tackle caused him to go down. Rooney back on his feet again now, to boos and whistles from the home crowd.

13:49
19min - Choupo-Moting appeals waved away

A tangle between Eric Choupo-Moting and Allan Nyom on the edge of the West Brom box. The Stoke man was hoping for a penalty, at least a free-kick. He gets neither.

13:47
Everton lacking bite in midfield
13:43
14min - Zouma header over

Stoke's turn to come forward at The Hawthorns and Xherdan Shaqiri sees his effort from outside the box deflected wide of the target. From the corner, Kurt Zouma is allowed to charge in unmarked and heads over. Might have done better.

13:41
11min - Pedro goes for the spectacular

A first chance for Chelsea as Pedro, a masked man today, attempts an ambitious overhead kick after controlling Morata's ball to him. It goes over the top and Everton breathe easy again.

13:40
10min - Gueye into the book

Heavy challenge on Cesc Fabregas by Idrissa Gana Gueye that caught him on the shin. A worthy first booking of the afternoon.

13:36
5min - Bright start by the Baggies

A couple of early corners for West Brom as they make a bright start. A deep back-post delivery just avoids the incoming James Morrison who'd ghosted in at the back stick.

West Bromwich Albion's Gareth Barry in action with Stoke City's Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting
13:34
3min - Morata shot blocked

Chelsea breaking down the left-hand side after Everton play themselves into trouble. Alvaro Morata gets past Mason Holgate and Marcos Alonso takes it on. But there's nobody in the middle and he returns it to Morata. He cuts inside and shoots, but it's blocked.

13:30
Kick-off

We are underway on this bumper afternoon of Premier League football.

A huge blue and white banner is held aloft by the Matthew Harding Stand at Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte, looking dapper as ever, takes his seat. Shirt sleeves for his Everton counterpart Ronald Koeman and his side will get us started.

Tony Pulis, tracksuit and baseball kit as always, shakes hands with Mark Hughes in the Midlands. Stoke get us underway there.

Laurie Whitwell at The Hawthorns: Mark Hughes ensured there was a handshake between himself and Tony Pulis before kick-off at the Hawthorns.

Hughes waited for the West Brom boss and then went over to greet his adversary when Pulis had walked straight to his dugout.

Their rivalry is an intriguing element of this fixture, as is Saido Berahino’s potential influence. He starts on the bench but will surely arrive at some stage, come in for stick from the home fans when he does so.

They jeered his shooting practise in the warm-up and celebrated when he missed.

13:25
The teams are in the tunnel

Both Stamford Bridge and The Hawthorns are filling up as the fans take their seats and the buzz of excitement builds.

At both grounds, the sides are ready in the tunnel. Chelsea are in their usual blue home strip this afternoon at sunny Stamford Bridge, while Everton are in white chage colours.

At The Hawthorns, also bathed in sunshine on a beautiful Bank Holiday Sunday, West Brom in their familiar navy and white stripes, Stoke in red and white.

Chelsea vs Everton match stats - Part Two

Since the start of 2011, Everton have won just one of their 40 Premier League away matches at one of the top-six sides in the competition last season (W1 D14 L25).

Wayne Rooney scored his 200th Premier League goal in Everton’s 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Monday night. He managed this feat in his 462nd game, while the only other player to reach 200; Alan Shearer (260), did this in 306 matches.

Wayne Rooney will be looking to score in three successive Premier League appearances for the first time since January 2016.

Everton had eight English players in their starting XI for their last Premier League game at Manchester City. One of the eight players in their last match was Tom Davies, who wasn’t born when Everton last did this on Boxing Day 1997.

Spanish forward Pedro scored two goals and assisted two more in Chelsea’s two wins over Everton in the 2016-17 Premier League title-winning campaign.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has offered exiled Chelsea striker Diego Costa a surprise escape route out of Stamford Bridge.

Costa is desperate to leave Chelsea and has refused to return to training with the London club.

The 28-year-old is keen to push through a move to Atletico Madrid but complications over the La Liga club's transfer ban has made a deal difficult.

Chelsea vs Everton match stats - Part One

Chelsea have won seven of their last 10 Premier League meetings with Everton, including both in 2016-17 (W7 D1 L2).

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 22 home Premier League games against Everton since a 0-1 loss in November 1994 (W12 D10). Only against Tottenham (25) are they on a longer unbeaten Premier League run at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, this Everton run of 22 games without a victory at Chelsea is their longest away winless run at another club in the Premier League. Only against Leeds (36 games between 1953-2001) have they had a longer away run without a win in league history.

Chelsea haven’t lost back to back home Premier League games since November 2011 when they were managed by Andre Villas-Boas.

The Toffees have only lost one of their last 11 Premier League games against the reigning champions (W6 D4); a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in December 2014.

West Brom vs Stoke match stats - Part Two

Just under half of Tony Pulis’ 31 Premier League wins as West Bromwich Albion manager have been by a 1-0 scoreline (15 – 48%).

In fact, since Pulis took charge of his first WBA game in the Premier League back in January 2015, the Baggies have won the most matches 1-0 in the competition (15).

Stoke City have found the net just three times in their last nine Premier League away matches; failing to find the net in seven of these games.

Striker Saido Berahino hasn’t scored in any of his last 28 Premier League appearances over a spell at both of these clubs (13 games for WBA & 15 games for Stoke).

Should Jese score in this match for Stoke City, he’ll be only the second player to score in his opening two Premier League appearances for the club after Ricardo Fuller.

12:20

Joe Bernstein: The secret behind Everton's confident opening to the campaign is having three captains in the dressing-room.

While Phil Jagielka officially wears the armband, he is delighted to share leadership with Wayne Rooney and Ashley Williams as Everton follow up difficult trips to Manchester City and Hajduk Split with another toughie at champions Chelsea.

'Because of the experience Wayne Rooney has, when he talks, the attacking young lads especially listen. It's great for the manager to have someone like that. He's a captain whether he wears the armband on not,' insists Jagielka.

Ian Ladyman: The pitch to new Stoke forward Jese Rodriguez was made over coffee in a hotel in Staffordshire. The empathy came from his new manager Mark Hughes.

‘You try and remember the situations you were once in,’ explained Hughes.

‘You are thinking that he may feel he doesn’t wanna be here so you recognise that and say, “I know it’s difficult to leave Paris Saint-Germain but I have been there and I know that it’s like”.

'You try and touch on things that resonate with him and go from there. I know what players who come here from abroad need to be successful with us.'

West Brom vs Stoke match stats - Part One

Since Tony Pulis took over as West Brom boss, the Baggies have won four and lost none of their five Premier League meetings with his former side Stoke (W4 D1 L0).

Stoke won their first five Premier League trips to the Hawthorns, but haven’t won a single point there in their last three league trips (W0 D0 L3).

Five of the six goals scored in the last three Premier League meetings between WBA and Stoke have been netted in the final 30 minutes.

West Bromwich Albion have scored just one goal in their last five Premier League matches at the Hawthorns, but this did give them a 1-0 opening day victory against Bournemouth.

In these last five matches at the Hawthorns, WBA have attempted 63 shots overall with 20 of these being on target but only scored once (1.6% conversion rate). Their xG total in these five games is 4.6, meaning that on average they should have scored closer to five goals from those chances.

12:04

Joe Bernstein: Antonio Conte has declared his Chelsea side are in a state of 'emergency'.

And the former Italy boss insisted that despite the club's much vaunted youth programme, there are no young players ready to step up into the first team.

'You must decide if you want to fight for the title or develop your young players,' he said. 'Two different ways.'

Hazard not in the Chelsea squad today

Around 45 minutes or so until the team line-ups are revealed but we already know that Eden Hazard will not be in the Chelsea squad today.

Antonio Conte has decided that Hazard still isn't fit enough to be involved as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury suffered back in June.

Hazard has been tuning up with Chelsea's under-23 side and played 74 minutes in their defeat to Everton on Friday night.

But Conte doesn't want to rush him back into first-team action.

It puts pressure on the Belgium coach Roberto Martinez, who has selected Hazard in his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece next weekend.

That decision certainly came as a shock to Conte, who said: 'I was a coach of the national team of Italy so I respect the decision of the coach.

'If Hazard isn't ready he will not play, it's why he doesn't play with us.'
