Crystal Palace are hopeful of concluding a deal worth up to £30million for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho but face competition from Leicester City as well as West Brom.

The Selhurst Park club had a £24m offer rejected earlier in the window but are trying to secure the 27-year-old France international, who wants a return to London.

Leicester asked about Sakho on Monday after being rebuffed in a £23m bid for West Brom defender Jonny Evans.

West Brom also want Sakho as a replacement for Evans as they anticipate Manchester City will make an improved offer.


Evans, 29, will be training at City's CFA complex this week with Northern Ireland ahead of their World Cup qualifier against San Marino on Friday.

Palace have registered interest in Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen who is also wanted by Stoke City and West Brom, and have considered a move for West Ham defender Jose Fonte, 33.
